Nagano Prefecture, home to the Shinshu Watch Studio, boasts the largest concentration of white birch trees in Japan. White birch is a fast-growing, sun-loving tree with remarkable vitality. Its straight, white trunk reaching toward the sun conveys both beauty and strength. Inspired by the sight of countless birch trees spreading endlessly across the landscape, the dial features a delicate design that evokes the depth of these forests. It harmonizes with the silent motion of the tempered blue Spring Drive seconds hand and the serene stillness of white birch trees in the depths of winter.

This watch is powered by Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive Calibre 9RA2, a movement that maintains a level of performance comparable to that of the innovative Calibre 9RA5, which debuted in 2020. With Calibre 9RA2, the power reserve indicator is on the back to further slim down the watch’s profile. The see-through case back offers a view of the movement, whose “Shinshu Frost” decoration honours the frost that can be seen throughout the Shinshu region during periods of intense cold. This is complemented by the power reserve indicator hand, tempered to a beautiful shade of blue to communicate a peaceful expression.
