The Heritage Collection shows Grand Seiko at its most pure and demonstrates its complete dedication to the essentials of watchmaking, precision, legibility, durability and ease of use. The case sides are long and Zaratsu polished to a perfect mirror finish while the upper surfaces of the lugs have a hairline pattern. The dials are simple and high legibility is ensured by the visually strong cross shape of the lines running from 12 o’clock to 6 and from 9 to 3. The original Grand Seiko design team in the 1960s once described their aim as being “the best functional watch.” Their language understated the beauty of what they created but they were, indeed, successful in achieving their goal.
